Flexcut Spoon Carving Kit

The Flexcut Spoon Carving Kit is a great introduction to this absorbing branch of woodcarving. The beauty of spoon carving is its simplicity. All you need is here. Two top quality Sloyd carver’s knives; a Single Bevel Hook Knife and a Stub Sloyd Knife, along with a 190mm long roughly cut basswood blank. That is everything you need to carve your first spoon by hand. The Single Bevel Sloyd Hook knife has a radius of about 12mm. The shape allows you to carve the spoon’s hollow bowl. The single-edge of this deeply curved blade is sharp all the way to its pointed tip. The blade is made of high-carbon steel, which gives exceptional edge retention. The Stub Sloyd Knife has a strong, short blade approximately 63mm long. This gives you improved control when carving spoon sized projects. Both knives feature well shaped cherry wood handles with brass ferrules. As with all carving tools, regular honing keeps them in peak condition and makes for better results. Note: Basswood is very similar to Lime the two are practically interchangeable, it is easy to carve; takes good detail and finishes well.-bg
