Clifton No. 5 Jack Plane

This is a plane produced in Sheffield and made for professional use. The Clifton No. 5 is a quality tool for quality work. The frog and frog seating are based on the famous bedrock design. A bedrock frog enables you to fine tune the plane’s mouth at the turn of a screw without dismantling or disturbing any other settings. The machined mating surfaces between body and frog provide a rock solid foundation for the blade. The accurately machined grey cast iron body has precisely ground sides and sole. The Lever Cap is a polished grey iron casting. The blade is cryogenically treated 3mm thick O1 steel; hardened and tempered to 60-62 HRC and precision ground. The Cap Iron is a single piece design offering rigid clamping. The handle and tote are carefully shaped Walnut. Other parts are either stainless steel or solid cast brass. Overall length 355mm / 14", weight 2.8kg. A Sheffield made plane true to its pedigree.
