Axminster Workshop 50mm Blade for No. 4 & 5 Planes

Axminster Workshop plane blades are great value for money, especially if you are looking to upgrade or replace a worn out blade. Our blades are ground from 3mm thick, high carbon, O1 spring steel and finish at about 2.8mm thick. The thickness adds strength and stiffness and eliminates any chance of blade chatter. These blades are hardened and tempered to 63 HRC resulting in excellent edge retention characteristics. In common with most edge tools a little work is required such as flattening the back and honing the bevel. A few minutes' work will result in a lasting razor sharp edge. As our blades are thicker than standard some planes may require the mouth of the plane opening up a little to accommodate the extra thickness.
