Clifton 410 Shoulder Plane

The Clifton 410 is a medium sized shoulder plane, perfect for trimming tenon shoulders and cheeks and cleaning up and fine tuning rebates. The 410 is a real gem, it has the classic design of the Edward Preston No.1367 combined with the micro-depth adjustment of the Record 041. The 410’s body is fine grain grey cast iron. Accurately ground sides and sole enable you to use the plane upright or laid on its side, left or right hand. It has a fine mouth; a mere 0.8mm for taking the finest of shavings. The gentle curve of the lever arm fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. The 18mm wide blade is bedded at 18°, used bevel-up with a 25° bevel gives a 43° pitch. The O1 tool steel blade is hardened to HRC 59-61. Overall length 138mm; weight 580g.-bg
