This machine is delivered by our own Axminster transport team. The most noticeable feature of the Sweet 16 is the removable gap section in the bed. By removing this section you effectively increase the lathe’s bowl turning capacity from 405mm to 812mm. The section doubles as a bed extension. When fitted on the end of the lathe, it increases the spindle capacity from 610mm to 965mm. The gap section can also be attached to the front of the headstock to give access to the back of a bowl or platter. The headstock is relieved in front, allowing even greater access. The Sweet 16 features stainless steel bedways; rust isn’t going to be a problem. The stand is height adjustable, allowing you to set the centre height to perfectly suit your stature. There is no fiddly belt changing; the Sweet 16’s features variable speed control with digital readout (50-2,900rpm). The controls are housed in a moveable switch box; rare earth magnets on the back let you position it conveniently anywhere on the lathe. Locking the spindle when changing chucks, faceplates etc disconnects the controls, preventing accidental start-up. 48 position indexing is easily accessible in the headstock. The spindle is precision ground and made from pre-hardened aircraft grade Chrome-Moly Steel with an M33 x 3.5 thread. Buying a Robust lathe is an investment in a lifetime of turning pleasure.
