FISCH Tapered Plug Cutters

A perfectly round plug with a slight taper makes for a perfect fit every time. Even the most carefully drilled holes can be fractionally oversized. These four flute plug cutters from FISCH cut plugs that taper in their length. The taper is just sufficient to ‘take up any slack’. Tap the plug into the hole for a snug fit and trim any excess with a flush cut saw. Using the same timber and matching the grain direction results in an almost invisible finish. Use a contrasting timber for a decorative finish. The plug cutters have four sharp cutting edges producing clean smooth sided plugs. Made from Chrome Vanadium tool steel for a long tool life. For the best result use a drill press or drill stand. The optimum speed is 1,000 rpm softwood or 500 rpm in hardwood. Cutting depth 18mm.
